The “NFL picks” game serves as a means to keep one interested in the NFL season without specific regard to one’s favorite team’s performance, as well as a vehicle to keep in touch throughout the season.

History

Tigerball began in 2006 as a collaboration between Caroline, Steve and Chris. The game concept behind Tigerball was initially developed by Steve and Nancy as a way to participate and maintain interest in the NFL season, while playing head to head with each other in a quasi-competitive manner.

In 2006, Steve introduced the game to Chris, and by week three, Chris and Caroline were also participating in the game. By the end of 2006, the game included 5 players, and by 2007, 7 players.

Tigerball expanded to 12 players in 2008, the first year it hosted its own website.

In 2009, Tigerball was fully redeveloped to incorporate improved online communications tools, including a blog, RSS feeds, and an online submission form. 13 players participated in the 2009 season.

In 2010, new formatting ideas were considered, including the posibility of weighted games, a multiple-division format, and a first-half / second-half / playoff style brackets. Ultimately, for 2010, the previous format was utilized.

2011 seeks to return most of the 2010 players, along with welcoming new players to the mix. Formatting will likely continue to match years' past; any formatting changes sought to be implemented mid-season will be made only with the approval of all players. Website enhancements are slated for 2011, though the reintroduction of social media or RSS feeds are unlikely.
